IFAD is a specialized United Nations agency that works to alleviate poverty and hunger in rural areas of developing countries.

The challlenge

To remain competitive, credible, and effective, IFAD required a website redesign. The new approach needed to focus on being an audience-centered digital platform, organized as a content resource, optimized for mobile, and visually appealing.

The process

The first step was to look  at each of the defined personas in the content strategy phase to analyze the series of steps that the users would take to achieve a meaningful goal on the IFAD website.

The objective was to validate that:

  • Users are able to find the information they need quickly and self-sufficiently
  • There were no redundant steps and it was easy and fast for the users to achieve their goals

Based on that, and after several iterations, we achieved the final sitemap.

We created a design system consisting of a style guide with components, modules and templates. This approach to design ensures that future design production will be fast to implement and can be done at a lower cost.
